Davey RainBank
RainBank®, an automatic controller for rainwater harvesting, is produced by Davey Products, Australia's leading designer and manufacturer of water pumps for the rural, metropolitan, industrial, pool and spa markets.

Incorporated into the design of new homes or fitted to existing properties, RainBank controls the water supply for the toilet and laundry by automatically switching the water source from the domestic mains to a rainwater tank on demand when rainwater is available.

RainBank is the first product to use rainwater as the water supply for the toilet and laundry in metropolitan areas and control it automatically. It can save up to 40 per cent of household drinking quality water.
Please note: RainBank is only available in a pre-packaged kit with a Davey pump.

Features How it Works
Water saving
RainBank allows households in metropolitan and regional areas to replace up to 40 per cent of their drinking quality water with rainwater.

Seamless and convenient
RainBank automatically switches the water source from the domestic mains to the rainwater supply stored in the tank whenever a toilet is flushed or a washing machine used. If the rainwater supply is depleted at any time, or in the case of a power failure, RainBank automatically supplies mains water as the back up.

Environmentally friendly
RainBank only operates the pump to pressurise the rainwater when required. Energy costs are minimised as there is no double handling or re-pressurising of the mains water. Daily power consumption figures for a pump and RainBank system supplying toilet cisterns in a three person dwelling is the equivalent to the operation of a:
  • Reverse cycle air conditioner for three minutes a day.
  • Clothes dryer for three minutes a day.
  • Television or computer for 30 minutes a day.
RainBank also has an approved built-in backflow protection valve to ensure that there is no risk of backflow from the rainwater storage into the mains, thereby preventing potential contamination of the mains water supply.

Easy to install
RainBank can be incorporated into the design of new homes or fitted to existing properties. It is easy to install as either a complete system of pump and controller or as a controller added to an existing pressure pump and tank installation. It is normally mounted on top of the pump however, its design allows remote mounting onto a wall or nearby location.

Safe
RainBank has achieved the requirements of Standards Australia's Technical Specification ATS 5200.466-2004, for Rainwater tank connection devices. RainBank also complies with AS4020 for connection to a drinking water supply.

  1. When a toilet is flushed or a washing machine is filled the RainBank system detects this demand and automatically checks to see if there is sufficient water in the rainwater storage tank.
  2. If there is sufficient rainwater RainBank switches to this source and completes the demand cycle. Once complete RainBank automatically switches off.
  3. If there is insufficient rainwater RainBank provides mains water to fulfil the demand. In the case of a power failure, RainBank automatically supplies mains water as the back up.
