The November AEM Open Day saw an impressive turnout, despite earlier predictions of rain. Fortunately, the heavens held out for the most part, and everyone was able to stroll around with a snag and have a look at products from CMG, Fasco, Davey, Onga, Gorman Rupp, Dunlite, and IFM.

AEM is pleased to offer a full range of motor testing capabilities with our new portable Samatic testing equipment. We can now perform the following tests in our workshop, and most on-site:

• Vibration testing
• Winding resistance testing
• Armature testing*
• Polarization Index (PI) Analysis - analyses the condition and "freshness" of the winding insulation
• DC Hi Pot - tests between frame and winding to check insulation
• Surge Test* - checks for inter-turn faults in the winding
• Broken bars - AEM visits on-site and tests for broken rotor bars in motors running under load. Ideal where critical motors cannot be removed from operation.

A detailed electrical test report is offered with all repairs of motors 22kW and above.
